The Venice Design Biennial is glad to present the VDB Residency programme. The city offers a one-of-a-kind experience, a program that provides the selected designer with the opportunity to spend one month in Venice and produce a work in collaboration with local makers.

The program aims at connecting international designers with outstanding artisans, thus developing a strong bond between cutting-edge design research and the traditional craftsmanship of Venice.

At the moment, the Residency programme for the 2025 edition is suspended. We hope to return soon with new collaborations!

The winners of the past two editions of the VDB Residency are Trent Jansen with his cabinet ‘Magistrato Al Sal Nero’ in collaboration with Vetralia Collectible (2023) and Tadeas Podracky with his ‘Fading Reflection' mirrors produced in collaboration with Ongaro & Fuga Murano (2021).

Both works were exhibited in Venice at SPARC* - Spazio Arte Contemporanea in Campo Santo Stefano as part of the group exhibitions of each edition.
